Editorial & data policy
Our research is built from named public records, transparent limitations and a clear separation between editorial work and commercial placement.
Last updated August 8, 2026
A specific number needs an identifiable regulator, statute or published dataset behind it.
A market average is context, not a personal quote or a promise of what one driver will pay.
Commercial relationships may affect partner placement, never the facts or conclusions in our research.
Every specific statistic on this site comes from a named public source cited where it appears. Primary sources include state insurance regulators, state statutes, insurance departments, DMVs and established industry datasets. If we cannot attribute a number, we do not publish it.
Published averages describe a defined sample or market. They are never presented as a personal quote, guaranteed saving or prediction of what an individual driver will pay.
Reviews use stable public attributes such as ownership, distribution model, publicly described programs and AM Best financial-strength ratings. We do not invent star scores, estimate a company's price or allow a commercial relationship to change what a review says.
Minimum coverage, no-fault rules and proof-of-financial-responsibility filings are checked against each state's own statute, insurance department or motor-vehicle authority before publication. Because rules change, every state guide identifies its source and update date.
Partners may compensate us as described on How We Make Money. Compensation can affect which commercial options appear and their placement. Partners do not review, approve or rewrite our editorial content.
We never publish fabricated savings, testimonials or rankings.
We also never present ShowMyRates as an insurer, agency, broker or insurance advisor.
“Last updated” dates reflect a real review. When a source publishes new information, we update the page, qualify the older claim or remove it. If we get something wrong, we correct the page.
